It has been an overwhelming season. COVID-19, near global lockdown, business continuity plans. Yet the global pandemic is not abating. Hospitals overwhelmed, people dying, job losses, new cases every day.
Everything is disrupted. Routines haywire. Lives upended. No end in sight. We are in the middle of a massive storm. Yet it is at this time Don Moen’s devotion and song reminded of a simple faith: He (Jesus) will come and save you.
The One who saved Israel, the One who brought them out of darkness, the One who split the red sea, will come and save.
“When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the Lord… And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord , which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” <Exodus 14:10-14 ESV>
This miracle thousands of years ago was the foundation story of our Good Friday and Easter. It still is the miracle for us today. Trust in the Lord. Fear not. Be silent. Let God work his salvation. He will come and save you.
